Argentia 4, USA 1

A predictable scoreline but one made difficult because the US scored first. In the ninth minute Eddie Johnson was brought down in the box from behind. Johnson buried the penalty kick shocking the crowd with an American lead. The kids that make up this Copa America only two minutes to relish in the glory as Argentina finished off a free kick to tie the score. The game went to half-time tied 1-1, a result greater than most expectations. The USA did a good job of holding the Argentines through the sixtieth minute or so. Then in the sixtieth minute Hernan Crespo scored his second goal. This was the crack in the dam that led to its total failure and a flood of chances for the Argentinians. The US was plain and simply outclassed and fought admirably. The substitions tell the story. Bob Bradley puts on Eddie Gaven, who until recently has been on the bench at the Colombus Crew. Argentina sends in Carlos Tevez who has Italian Serie "A" champions Inter Milan, Spanish League champs Real Madrid, and perenial EPL power Arsenal bidding for his services.
One bright spot is Benny Feilhaber's continued good form even against one of the world's best teams. The biggest surprise had to be the performance of Bornstein. Many have questioned Bob Bradley's continued use of Jonathon Bornstein but last night he showed why the coach holds such a fascination. Bornstein completely shut down Lionel Messi, so much so that Messi changed sides so he could make mince meat of Marvell Wynne.
