Copa America
I've put this off as long as I possibly could.
First of all I wanted to enjoy the victory over Mexico as long as possible. I also didn't want to bore you with explanations about the Copa America and why we are playing in it. But the tournament began last night and the USA will be playing Thursday so here we go. Copa America is another FIFA regional tournament. Just as the Gold Cup goes to the champions of CONCACAF, Copa America crowns the champion of CONMEBOL (CONfederación SudaMEricana de FútBOL)or the Confederation of South American Football.The USA and Mexico have been invited to play in the tournament this year.
The tournament is being held in Venezuela. I won't get into all the political stuff but the US and Venezuela are on less than friendly terms. Here is a cool map showing the stadiums where games will be played.Here's the groups and schedules:
